Your guess is as good as mine. I don't use any software spam blockers. Astaro has a free home version of their server software but it requires you to set up a pc as a server for it on your network. I hear they are awesome and I would love to set one up if I had the time.

However, my defense is a good offense. I don't post my email address on the web, I use contact forms. I don't click on links in emails or web ads that I don't trust. And, I don't sign up for free offers or rebates.

K9 is the best web filter, espesially when used in conjunction with OpenDNS.

Good to see a post!

I saw the app yesterday and got it. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but it looks to be a good backup if I don't want to run into any curbs while using the native Google map app.

So, I'm confused. Should I add these two to the stuff I do to clean up friends and family PC's or not? I'm 50 and I'm getting too old for this. I can't wait until they've all switched to iPhones or LG Vue's. I don't "do" Mobile support. Did I mention I'm 50 now? Not a Generation M'er. (grin)

the answer ACT! won't give you, but I believe is the best answer is as follows.
 1. Do some research and find a different contact management program
 2. have your database converted to the new program

There you have it. After a few weeks of learning the new system you will never look back and most likely not spend hours to fix "issues" that are in whole created by ACT! itself, not any other program.

I'm clueless on Vista. My only experience with it so far was setting up a Vista pre-installed PC for my pastor, getting it hooked up and working on Cox with a router and modem. I don't remember it being that different, but I play with a lot of Linux distros, so a slightly different gui didn't throw me off. No problems with any of the hardware involved. I've been advising my nontech friends to go ahead and buy Vista, just make sure they get at least 2gigs of ram. Sounds like 7 will be an even easier recommend.

With Vista, that would have been my first thought. But, the specs for Windows 7 are much lower. I have a video card that meets the requirements for the special transparenty desktop theme and, ANY video that isn't in a browser causes the crash. Not even the bulletproof VLC will play the smallest video file. However, I am liking Win7, wouldn't call myself a "fan" of any MS product but I have to keep up with them for work.

Wonder if that BSOD is related to trying to do WMC on 7 with only 1gig of ram? You are a brave brave man to try that. (grin)
